On the 18th December 2025, the Employment Rights Bill received royal assent, which means big changes to existing employment law are on the way.
This now means that 28 major reforms are coming, which will make it the biggest shift in UK employment law in a generation. The changes will be Implemented in phases across this year and 2027. Key changes include day-one rights for paternity and sick pay, restricted ‘fire and rehire’ practices, new zero-hours contract regulations, and strengthened protections against sexual harassment
